Windmill Boat Experience grew out of a simple conviction: that the Zaanse Schans — one of the most iconic heritage landscapes in the Netherlands — is best experienced from the water. Over the years, we have built our fleet of three boats ourselves, vessel by vessel, learning the waterways, refining the experience and developing the guided tours that now take groups of up to 90 guests through this extraordinary landscape.


The building process

Building the boats ourselves was never just a practical decision. It was a statement of intent. We wanted to create something we were proud of — purpose-built for the experience, suited to the Zaanse waterways, and designed to give groups the space and comfort to genuinely take in what surrounds them. Every detail, from the covered decks to the seating layout, reflects years of hands-on knowledge.


Today, Windmill Boat Experience works with tour operators, travel agencies and group organisers across the Netherlands and internationally. We offer fully private, guided boat charters with customisable routes, all-weather capability and a level of personal service that only comes from a team that has built this business from the ground up.
